Emancipated Run Crew's (ERC) Windrush Run Social and Presentations - June 23rd 2024
Over 70 runners from Emancipated Run Crew (ERC) made their way to JN Bank UK branch on Sunday June 23rd after their Windrush celebration run. The run had taken them from the Windrush monument at London’s Waterloo Rail Station down to Windrush Square in Brixton, London. The run was to commemorate the 76th anniversary of the Windrush where they had just over 100 participants joining in the run. Some participants cycled the journey while other walked or run.
JN Bank UK was pleased to host the ERC for their post run social. This consisted of a lively Windrush talk made by our Deputy CEO Paulette Simpson CBE and Windrsuh campaigner Patrick Vernon. Paulette is also the Deputy Chairperson of the Windrush Commemoration Committee. She spoke about the significant contribution of the Windrush generation and the legacy of pride that have passed down to the current generation. She commended the ERC for celebrating in their unique way and for their ongoing support and work in the wider community.
The ERC also made a presentation of a donation of £5, 643 to the Sickle Cell Society. This was received by John James OBE, CEO of the Sickle Cell Society. The funds were raised earlier in the year by 43 members of ERC who participated in the 2024 London Marathon. John James expressed appreciation for the funds which he said would make a difference to the important work being done by the Society.
It was a lovely day full of positive vibes and celebration and the JN Bank UK team were really pleased to support this significant celebration.
