Welcome Reception with Minister of State (Government of Jamaica)
We were pleased to host the Honourable Alando Terrelonge, MP, the newly appointed Minister of State in Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (Government of Jamaica) at our branch community space on Wednesday June 21st. Minister Terrelonge is in charge of Diaspora Affairs, and he was delighted to connect with fellow Jamaicans and friends of Jamaica at the gathering.
In his address, the Minister commended that “JN is an economic ambassador and is more than a bank" as it is an entity which creates “positive vibrations between Jamaicans here [in the UK] and back home” [in Jamaica]. He also recounted how he had opened his very first JN bank account while he was a child in Primary School many years ago.
The attendees comprised of JN customers, key community and business leaders across the UK Diaspora as well as the acting Jamaican High Commissioner to the UK - Ms. Desrine Taylor, who also gave an address. The evening was ably moderated by Paulette Simpson CBE Deputy CEO of JN Bank UK. Paula Dyke, Senior Manager Corporate Affairs & Communications JN Group gave the vote of thanks and presented the Minister with a copy of The Voice newspaper’s 40th anniversary book entitled The Voice - 40 Years of Black British Lives and a collection of Windrush 75th anniversary commemorative stamps.
It was a lovely evening, and we were delighted to have hosted everyone.
